Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb fresh asparagus

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt

  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

Optional for Serving

  • 2 tablespoons pecorino cheese, grated

  • Lemon wedges

  • Red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  • Wash and thoroughly dry the asparagus. Trim the woody ends by cutting 1–2 inches from the bottom.

  • Preheat the air fryer to 390°F (200°C).

  • Place asparagus in a large bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Toss until evenly coated.

  • Arrange asparagus in a single layer in the air fryer basket.

  • Air fry for 5–10 minutes, depending on thickness, shaking once halfway through, until tender and lightly crispy.

  • Serve immediately with grated pecorino cheese and a squeeze of fresh lemon, if desired.

Notes

  • Dry well: Removing excess moisture helps the asparagus crisp better.

  • Single layer: Avoid overcrowding to ensure even cooking.

  • Thickness matters:

    • Thin asparagus: 5–6 minutes

    • Medium: 7–8 minutes

    • Thick: 9–10 minutes

  • Flavor boost: Add lemon zest, parmesan, or chili flakes just before serving.
