Honey Garlic Chicken is a quick, flavorful dish that’s perfect for busy weeknights. Tender chicken pieces are lightly coated, pan-seared until golden, then tossed in a sticky honey garlic sauce that’s sweet, savory, and incredibly satisfying. Serve it with rice, noodles, or steamed vegetables for an easy, well-balanced meal.
1½ pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
4 garlic cloves, minced
⅓ cup honey
¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon sesame oil
½ teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
Sesame seeds and chopped green onions, for garnish
In a bowl, toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch until evenly coated.
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add the chicken and cook for 5–6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and fully cooked. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, and chili flakes.
Pour the sauce into the skillet and bring to a gentle simmer.
Return the chicken to the skillet and toss to coat. Cook for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and clings to the chicken.
Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve warm.
Use chicken thighs for extra juiciness, or breasts for a leaner option.
Don’t overcrowd the pan to ensure the chicken browns properly.
Adjust sweetness by adding more or less honey to taste.
Make it spicy by increasing chili flakes or adding sriracha.
