Honey Garlic Chicken

Honey Garlic Chicken

Honey Garlic Chicken is a quick, flavorful dish that’s perfect for busy weeknights. Tender chicken pieces are lightly coated, pan-seared until golden, then tossed in a sticky honey garlic sauce that’s sweet, savory, and incredibly satisfying. Serve it with rice, noodles, or steamed vegetables for an easy, well-balanced meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces

  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • 4 garlic cloves, minced

  • ⅓ cup honey

  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce

  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

  • ½ teaspoon chili flakes (optional)

  • Sesame seeds and chopped green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  • In a bowl, toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch until evenly coated.

  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

  • Add the chicken and cook for 5–6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and fully cooked. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

  • In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  • In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, and chili flakes.

  • Pour the sauce into the skillet and bring to a gentle simmer.

  • Return the chicken to the skillet and toss to coat. Cook for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and clings to the chicken.

  • Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use chicken thighs for extra juiciness, or breasts for a leaner option.

  • Don’t overcrowd the pan to ensure the chicken browns properly.

  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less honey to taste.

  • Make it spicy by increasing chili flakes or adding sriracha.

  • Great for meal prep: Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
