Crispy, Sweet, and Guilt-Free: Your Ultimate Guide to Air Fryer Apple Fries

Crispy, Sweet, and Guilt-Free: Your Ultimate Guide to Air Fryer Apple Fries

These Air Fryer Apple Fries are a crispy, sweet twist on classic apple snacks! Fresh apple slices are coated in a light cinnamon–sugar breading and air-fried until perfectly golden on the outside but soft and warm inside. They’re quick, fun, and great for after-school snacks, fall treats, or healthier desserts. Dip them in caramel, whipped cream, or vanilla yogurt for extra deliciousness!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith recommended)

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 large egg

  • 2 tbsp milk

  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • Nonstick cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Prep the apples:
Peel if desired. Slice into thin fry-shaped sticks. Pat dry with a paper towel to remove moisture.

  2. Set up coating stations:

    • Bowl 1: flour

    • Bowl 2: whisked egg + milk

    • Bowl 3: panko breadcrumbs + sugar + cinnamon

  3. Coat the apple sticks:
Dredge each piece in flour → dip in egg mixture → coat in cinnamon-sugar breadcrumbs.

  4. Air fry:
Lightly spray the coated apple fries with nonstick spray. Place in the air fryer basket in a single layer.

  5. Cook:
Air fry at 380°F (190°C) for 7–9 minutes, shaking the basket halfway, until crisp and golden.

  6. Serve:
Enjoy warm with caramel dip, whipped cream, or vanilla yogurt!

Notes

  • Pat the apples dry so the coating sticks well.

  • Work in batches to avoid overcrowding and help crispiness.

  • Swap panko for crushed cornflakes for extra crunch.

  • Add nutmeg or apple pie spice for more fall flavor.

  • Best served fresh—air-fried apples soften as they cool.
