For the Creamy Chicken and Rice

  • 500 g (about 1 lb) chicken breast, cut into bite-size pieces

  • 200 g (1 cup) long-grain or basmati rice

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped

  • 2 garlic cloves, finely minced

  • 1 cup (250 ml) hot chicken broth

  • ¾ cup (200 ml) heavy cream or cooking cream

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • 1 teaspoon flour (optional, for thickening)

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  • Cook the Rice
    Cook the rice according to package instructions. Drain and keep warm.

  • Sauté the Aromatics
    Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
    Add the onion and garlic and sauté for 2–3 minutes until soft and fragrant.

  • Cook the Chicken
    Add the chicken pieces to the skillet. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
    Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring, until lightly golden on all sides.

  • Build the Sauce
    If using, sprinkle the flour over the chicken and stir well.
    Pour in the hot chicken broth, bring to a gentle simmer, and cook for 5 minutes.

  • Add the Cream
    Stir in the cream and cook over low heat for 3–5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Do not boil.

  • Finish
    Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. Let everything warm through for 2 minutes.

  • Serve
    Spoon the rice onto plates, top with the creamy chicken and sauce, and garnish with fresh parsley.
