Ingredients

Scale

For the Roll-Ups

  • 10 slices white sandwich bread

  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted

  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar

  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

For the French Toast Coating

  • 3 large eggs

  • 1 tablespoon milk

  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

For Cooking

  • 23 tablespoons butter, for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bread
Remove the crusts from the bread slices. Using a rolling pin, flatten each slice until thin and pliable.

  2. Make the Cinnamon Filling
In a small bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon until well combined.

  3. Fill and Roll
Spread the cinnamon mixture evenly over each slice, leaving a small border around the edges. Roll each slice up tightly and gently press the seam to seal.

  4. Prepare the Egg Mixture
In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla extract.

  5. Cook the Roll-Ups
Heat a skillet over medium heat and add butter. Dip each roll-up into the egg mixture (do not oversoak), then place seam-side down in the skillet.

  6. Brown All Sides
Cook for 2–3 minutes total, turning gently to brown all sides evenly until golden and cooked through.

  7. Serve Warm
Serve immediately with maple syrup, powdered sugar, or a drizzle of icing.

Notes

  • Use soft, fresh bread for easy rolling

  • Don’t oversoak the roll-ups in egg mixture

  • Keep heat at medium to avoid burning the cinnamon sugar

  • Seal seams well to prevent filling from leaking

  • Serve immediately for best texture
