Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 stone-fired flatbreads

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 3 tbsp sesame seeds

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 6 slices American cheese

  • 2 Roma tomatoes, sliced ½-inch thick

  • 2 pickles, thinly sliced

  • 1 lb whole-milk mozzarella cheese, freshly grated

  • Ketchup and mustard, for drizzling

  • Garlic aioli and baby arugula, for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat and Prep
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

  • Par-Bake the Flatbreads
Brush the edges of the flatbreads with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Place on the baking sheets and bake for 10 minutes.

  • Cook the Beef
While the flatbreads bake, heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the ground beef, breaking it up as it browns. Season with salt and pepper and drain excess grease.

  • Melt the Cheese into the Beef
Add the American cheese slices to the hot beef and stir until fully melted and creamy.

  • Assemble
Drizzle ketchup and mustard in a zigzag pattern over the par-baked flatbreads. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese, then evenly add the cheesy ground beef. Top with tomato and pickle slices.

  • Bake
Return to the oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and the crust is golden.

  • Garnish and Serve
Drizzle with garlic aioli, sprinkle with baby arugula, slice, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Cheese swaps: Try cheddar, Colby Jack, or a burger cheese blend.

  • Extra toppings: Bacon, sautéed onions, or jalapeños are great additions.

  • Make ahead: Cook the beef mixture in advance and reheat before assembling.

  • Serving idea: Pair with fries, chips, or a simple side salad.
