This Air Fryer Teriyaki Chicken is an easy, flavorful dinner that’s ready in under 15 minutes of cooking time. Juicy, tender chicken pieces are coated in a sticky, savory-sweet teriyaki sauce and cooked to perfection in the air fryer. It’s a great low-carb, gluten-free option that’s perfect for busy weeknights and meal prep.
1–1.25 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs or chicken breast
⅔ cup teriyaki sauce (homemade or store-bought)
Chopped scallions, optional (for garnish)
Sesame seeds, optional (for garnish)
Prepare the Chicken
Pat the chicken dry with paper towels. Cut it into 1–1½ inch cubes and place it in a medium bowl.
Marinate
Pour the teriyaki sauce over the chicken and toss until evenly coated. Cover and marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to 1 hour.
Tip: If marinating longer than 30 minutes, refrigerate the chicken.
Preheat the Air Fryer
Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (204°C). Lightly spray the basket with non-aerosol cooking spray.
Cook
Place the chicken in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 12–15 minutes, shaking or flipping halfway through, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
Serve
Remove the chicken from the air fryer and serve immediately. Garnish with chopped scallions and sesame seeds if desired.
Chicken thighs are juicier, while chicken breast cooks slightly faster—check breasts around 8–10 minutes.
Avoid overcrowding the basket so the chicken cooks evenly.
For extra sticky sauce, brush on a little more teriyaki sauce during the last 2 minutes of cooking.
Pair with steamed rice, cauliflower rice, or sautéed vegetables for a complete meal.
