Air Fryer Shrimp (or Prawns): The Ultimate Guide to Juicy, Flavorful, and Foolproof Results

These air fryer shrimp are juicy, flavorful, and ready in minutes. With simple seasoning and no messy frying, they’re perfect for busy days. Enjoy them in tacos, salads, pasta, or straight from the basket as a quick snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) large shrimp or prawns, peeled and deveined

  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) light olive oil

Seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).

  • Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels.

  • Place shrimp in a bowl, add olive oil and all the seasoning. Gently toss to coat evenly.

  • Arrange shrimp in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Do not overcrowd.

  • Air fry for 8–10 minutes, shaking the basket once halfway, until shrimp are golden and just cooked through.

  • Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Don’t overcook: Shrimp cook fast. They’re done when pink, opaque, and slightly curled.

  • Size matters: Cooking time is based on large shrimp (31/40). Smaller shrimp need less time; larger shrimp need more.

  • Seasoning swap: You can use a ready-made seafood or Cajun seasoning (about 3 teaspoons).

  • Check doneness: Internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
