This Air Fryer Beef and Broccoli is a quick, easy, and flavorful meal that tastes just like your favorite takeout—but healthier and homemade. Tender slices of steak and crisp-tender broccoli are tossed in a savory, slightly sweet teriyaki-style sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights, this dish comes together in just over 30 minutes and is sure to become a family favorite.
1 pound skirt steak, thinly sliced (1½–2 inch strips, about ¼ inch thick)
3 cups fresh broccoli florets, cut into bite-size pieces
2 tablespoons canola oil
⅓ cup water
⅓ cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons light brown sugar
1 tablespoon mirin (sweet cooking rice wine)
1 teaspoon grated garlic
1 teaspoon grated ginger
1 teaspoon sesame oil
⅛ teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon cornstarch
½ teaspoon sesame seeds
Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 5 minutes. Lightly spray the basket with non-aerosol cooking spray.
Add the sliced steak in a single, even layer to the air fryer basket.
Air fry for 8–10 minutes, shaking once, until cooked through and lightly browned. Remove steak and set aside in a large bowl.
Toss broccoli florets with canola oil until evenly coated.
Add broccoli to the air fryer basket and cook for 6–8 minutes, until tender but still bright green. Add to the bowl with the steak.
While the broccoli cooks, prepare the sauce: whisk together water, soy sauce, brown sugar, mirin, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, red pepper flakes, and cornstarch in a microwave-safe bowl.
Microwave on high for 1 minute, whisk, then heat another 30 seconds to 1 minute until thick and glossy, whisking between intervals.
Pour the sauce over the beef and broccoli. Toss gently to coat.
Garnish with sesame seeds if desired and serve immediately.
Slice against the grain: This keeps the steak tender and easy to chew.
Don’t overcrowd the air fryer: Cook in batches if needed for even browning.
Bright green broccoli: Avoid overcooking to keep the broccoli crisp and fresh.
