This Air Fryer Baked Potato recipe gives you perfectly crispy skin with a fluffy, creamy center—without waiting an hour for the oven. It’s quick, simple, and made with just a few basic ingredients. Enjoy it as an easy side dish or load it up with your favorite toppings for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 russet potatoes (about 300 g each)

  • 1½ tablespoons oil

  • Salt, to taste

  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) if your model requires preheating.

  • Wash and dry the potatoes thoroughly.

  • Rub the potatoes all over with oil, then season generously with salt and pepper.

  • Pierce each potato once in the center with a fork.

  • Place the potatoes in the air fryer basket, making sure they are not overcrowded.

  • Cook for 40 minutes, turning once halfway if desired.

    • Smaller potatoes may need less time

    • Larger potatoes may need a few extra minutes

  • Check doneness by inserting a knife into the center. If it slides in easily, the potatoes are ready. If not, cook for another 5–10 minutes.

  • Remove carefully, slice open, fluff the inside with a fork, and add your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • Extra crispy skin: Sprinkle a little extra salt on the skin after oiling.

  • No oil option: Use cooking spray for a lighter version (skin will be slightly less crispy).

  • Toppings idea: Butter, sour cream, shredded cheese, bacon bits, chives, or Greek yogurt.

  • Meal prep: Cook extra potatoes and reheat in the air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for 5–7 minutes.
